Today, the focus will be... narwhals!
- The "horn" of a narwhal is actually an iron tusk that grows from its upper jaw and protrudes through the upper lip.
- The male narwhal's horn can grow up to 8.8 feet (2.7 meters) long.
- Females sometimes grow horns as well, but they aren't as long.
- Narwhals live in groups call pods, which usually range from 25 to 20. However, gatherings of hundreds, or even thousands, of narwhals have been seen.
- Narwhals communicate with squeals, trills, and clicks.
- The color of the narwhal changes as it ages. Newborns are blueish-gray, juveniles blueish-black, and adults are mottled gray. Old ones are almost completely white.
Awesome job with this! Thank you so much for posting (I love your signature, and the post was AWESOME, AMAZING & WONDERFUL!!) when I couldn't post the Animal Facts yesterday. >.<
